Fearful Forecast Week Six

HANOVER – You would think with nothing but Ivy-Ivy games the rest of the way the picking would get easier. I’m here to tell you that’s not true.

Harvard is a strong favorite against Princeton and ran over the Tigers last year, but the Tigers have been a surprise team this fall. Do they have another surprise in them?

Penn is off to a little better start than Yale, but the Bulldogs are home and last week demolished a Stonehill team the Quakers were lucky to survive. And Brown is 3-2 – that’s not a typo – but Cornell is at home, and coming off its first win. You get the idea.

Out-of-conference, William & Mary-New Hampshire feels like a tossup but there is one out-of-conference game that should go according to Hoyle. Lehigh is in the top-10, and if there were a bottom 10, Fordham might be in it.

But then you think back to Brown beating a top-10 Rhode Island team earlier this year and, well, all bets are off.

Here we go:

Harvard (5-0, 2-0 Ivy) at Princeton (3-2, 2-0 Ivy)

Harvard may not be a good as we think but Princeton may not be as good as they think. Harvard 24-10

Penn (4-1, 2-0 Ivy) at Yale (3-2, 1-1 Ivy)

Penn’s success has been a surprise. Yale’s stumbles have not, but the Bulldogs are home. Yale 28-24

Brown (3-2, 0-2 Ivy) at Cornell (1-4, 0-2 Ivy)

Easy pick a couple of weeks ago. Feels tricky now. Can Brown win on the road? Yes. Brown 35-28

William & Mary (4-3, 3-1) at UNH (4-3, 2-1)

Not going to pick against old friend Brian Mann, the former Dartmouth quarterback who is now the AD at William & Mary. William & Mary 21-17

Lehigh (7-0, 2-0 Patriot) at Fordham (1-6, 1-2)

Slam dunk of the week although Fordham actually looked a little better last week. It won’t help. Lehigh 35-14
